Cage lecture in Philadelphia

I’ve been invited to participate in a Cage-fest in Philadelphia, Cage:  Beyond Silence. It’s being run by the new music group Bowerbird and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I’m excited to be involved in this festival, which has an all-star lineup:  Margaret Leng Tan, Joseph Kubera, Joan La Barbara, Richard Kostelanetz, Rob Haskins, Relâche, Christian Wolff, Pauline Oliveros, Jack Quartet, et al.

I’ll be giving my talk on “John Cage’s silent piece(s)” (as heard in Buenos Aires and Barcelona) on Saturday, 3 November as part of a “mini-symposium” (fellow participants include Brian Brandt and Peter Price).  The symposium runs 12-4pm and will be held at the Philadelphia Museum’s Perelman Building.  I speak first; more details are available on the event website.  Admission is free, but you have to get a ticket to get in (limited seating).
